Oliver / Hatcher Construction constructed a new ground-up glass manufacturing facility in downtown Detroit for Luxwall. Luxwall manufactures exterior glass wall systems that have an R-Value ranging from R-18 to R-22. Oliver/Hatcher Construction is one of the first Construction Managers to install Luxwall’s proprietary exterior glass in the country.
An underwater detention system was installed to retain stormwater on-site to avoid overloading the City’s infrastructure. Due to tight property lines, the detention system was constructed underground, where runoff is collected and treated before being stored. The filtered water is then gradually released back into the city system, reducing peak flows.
The new facility will have an 8.5 MVA power rating, reverse osmosis system, and an overhead crane. The building will be designed to be LEED Silver Certified, include a 20,000 SF office space and multiple dock doors.
