VernDale Products is a family-owned and operated national provider of whole milk powder since the company started in 1958. VernDale needed to increase the capacity of their roller-dried whole milk powder and selected a new Detroit plant for redevelopment.

Oliver / Hatcher Construction expanded and renovated the existing milk receiving area and installed two 50,000 gallon silos, two 30,000 gallon silos, three 8,000 gallon silos, a separator, two drum roller dryers, fluid bed, mill sifter, two 15,000 gallon dry powder silos, and packaging and palletizing equipment. The electrical and mechanical systems were upgraded with new motor control centers and connections for process equipment. The roof, concrete egress stairs, glass window system, overhead doors, and dock equipment were replaced. Additional renovations included upgrading the existing 6,000 SF front office, locker rooms, break rooms, and testing laboratories.

Once the plant was completed, VernDale can operate seven days a week to process over 400,000 pounds of milk per day into 50,000 pounds of roller-dried whole milk powder.
